Digital Impact Report

Challenge

The UNC Pharmacy Foundation was established in 1946 to support all areas of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy’s mission. Through the generosity of donors, the UNC Pharmacy Foundation works to advance the pharmacy school’s mission of preparing leaders and innovators that will solve the world’s most pressing health care challenges. In 2022, the Foundation faced its own challenge to stay under budget but still inform donors of the support their gifts provide throughout the school, the state, and the world.

Process

After discussing the options for the Foundation's Impact Report (including options for a mailing, a published report, and a digital report) I guided the client to the decision of a fully digital publication. Through listening and intuitive questions, I created several initial spread layouts that captured a 'clean, image first, and scientific' feel while still supporting the University brand. Once UNC provided approval on the initial spread layouts, I proceeded to layout the 118 pages of this impact report using the content, stories and photographs provided by the Foundation.

Result

This impact report, utilizing a digital flipbook program, helps inform donors and supports of the UNC Pharmacy Foundation how their support is being used to solve the world's most pressing health care challenges. With a larger canvas (due to the lack of a printed binding and gutter), each spread of this virtual publication is its own visual billboard. This cohesive but varying design throughout the report allows each article to stand on its own, without detracting from the integrity of the design.
